1. Does CIPMS use the same performance management system as the rest of Army?

Yes. Performance management is a key element of CIPMS. CIPMS employees are covered by the Total Army Performance Evaluation System (TAPES). (See AR 690-400, chapter 4302)

2. What incentive awards are available to CIPMS employees?

CIPMS employees are eligible to participate in Army's Incentive Awards System, which has been modified to form the CIPMS Performance Recognition System. You are also eligible to receive awards and participate in the Army's Suggestion Program. Since CIPMS uses recognition as a retention incentive, supervisors are given broader latitude when determining both whether and how to recognize a CIPMS employee with a performance based award. The following forms of performance recognition may be considered: The performance rating itself, within-grade increase, non-competitive promotion, Quality Step Increase (QSI), Performance Award, Special Act or Service Award (SASA) to include an On-The-Spot Award, an honorary award, or the Exemplary Performance Award (EPA). The EPA is a CIPMS unique award equal to a double QSI. The EPA recognizes GS employees whose continued exemplary performance far exceeds the standards expected for their assigned grade level and whose documented annual performance is consistently rated exceptional.
